The Nairne Area Community Council (NACC) evolved from the Nairne Community Association (NCA) with the objective of providing the Postcode 5252 community with a strengthened forum for discussion and action on issues which affect lifestyle, amenity and development in Nairne. It offers all community and sports groups a forum to join with other groups, where there are commonalities of purpose, in presenting an integrated front to the authorities concerned and to combine resources as appropriate to achieve community amenity development.

Recent achievements are:

•    Nairne Development plan

•    Assistance with the Skateboard development
•    Receipt of a $2500 grant to develop the Matthew Smillie playground
•    Obtaining a $5500 grant for further development of the Matthew Smillie playground.
•    Nairne Directory
•    Changes in signage

Ongoing matters include:

•    Nairne Primary School traffic dangers
•    The proposed Nairne Industrial Estate
•    The proposed Winery off Summit Road
•    Increased Police presence
•    Main St. heritage development
•    High density  living developments
•    Loss of community recreational land
•    Nairne Founders’ Day

The NAIRNE NEWS
A very important activity of the NACC is the production of this bi-monthly newsletter. Much valuable community information is provided as well as advertising of local businesses. All community members are invited to contribute. Copy can be sent to P.O. Box 416, Nairne, South Australia 5252

The NAIRNE AREA DIRECTORY.
This  initiative provides a list of all 5252 phone numbers in an easy-to-find format. This has been strongly supported by local traders. Maps and historical information are also included.

Your involvement
All residents of the Postcode 5252 area are encouraged to make use of the NACC by attending meetings and becoming financial members, these membership fees providing a resource for the administration of the Council.
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7.30 p.m. at the Nairne Institute.



The OBJECTS as stated in the Constitution are:

(a)    To promote Community development and enhance the aspirations of the people living in the Nairne area.

(b)    To foster the interests of the residents of Nairne and those in the area covered by post code 5252

(c)    To provide a public forum for the residents of the Community within the 5252 post code area and to act as a representative umbrella Organization to all other Associations, Service Clubs Sports Clubs and Community Groups
affiliated with the Nairne area Community Council, where ideas and opinions can be gathered and enhanced into policy strategies by which the local Councillor or Councillors to the District Council of Mt. Barker may be guided.

(d)   To act as a local Area Community Council and in conjunction with the local Ward Councillor or Councillors to formulate policies and strategies for Nairne and other Localities within the post code area of 5252 with regard to the wishes and needs and the aspirations of such Local Communities that can be presented to the District Council of Mt. Barker for action and or implementation.


(e)   To,  when necessary, take up petitions and make represent-ations to the District Council of Mt. Barker on issues concerning the community of Nairne or any other community within the 5252
post code area as may be necessary.

(f)   To co-operate with and assist all other affiliated bodies to assist one another for the  common good of the Community as a whole, but promote the unique character and integrity of Nairne and each locality separately.


(g)  To do and promote all such things and acts conducive to the furtherance of the objects and interests of the Communities within the environs of Nairne and other localities of the post code area 5252 as may be required..


(h)   The assets and income of the Nairne Area Community Council Inc. shall be applied solely in the furtherance of objects and of this community Council and no portion shall be distributed directly or indirectly to its members except as a bona fide fee for services rendered or expenses incurred on behalf of the Nairne Area Community Council Inc.
